I woke up to an NPR special on John Denver. I don't really know what they said about him because I was still in that state of sleepy, but I've had
Country Roads in my head all day long. So, of course, I thought I'd share:
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads
All my memories, gathered 'round her
Miners' Lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice, in the morning hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road I get the feeling
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday.
I might not be from West Virginia (nope, just west
ernish Virginia), but man that song can be added to the list of things that make me smile.
